We're home! Actually, we have been home since Monday morning and things are going really well. So far, Ian is a content baby who likes to eat and sleep.... and eat and sleep..... and eat and sleep (you get the picture). He even has given me 4 hour stretches of sleep at night in his own crib. Here are a few pictures of what been going on with Ian during our hospital stay and at home.
Chilling out at the hospital in his homemade hat
Uncle Scott was in town and got to meet Ian (Emma got in some great play time too!)
On Sunday, we decided to dress Ian in one of his Newborn outfits. Good thing we did not buy a lot of newborn... This outfit just barely fit!

Catching him with his eyes open
Daddy is already teaching him all about the latest in google technology
We're going home!
Emma loves having her little brother at home
Did I mention he likes to sleep?
With temperatures in the 90's, we pulled the pool out for Emma to play... Ian wasn't so sure about this...
But Emma thought that he needed some cooling off

We are really having fun with Ian and are thankful for such a calm, happy baby!

Easter 2009
We had a really fun and busy Easter Weekend. On Saturday we had Ice Skating, a friend's birthday party, and our church's annual Easter egg Hunt. Emma did really well at the hunt this year and collected lots of eggs
Walking to the hunt
Talking Strategy with friend Kaylie
Waiting at the starting line with Mommy
The field with all the eggs ready for the taking
Collecting eggs
Emma found a golden egg and got a prize
On Sunday, we went to church. Nana and G-pa are here, so we attempted to pose for an Easter family picture
After church, Nana and Emma made their own creation... A bunny cake!
Emma's job was putting on the Jelly Beans
The finished product.
We have had a great time spending time with Nana and G-pa this week. Tomorrow is Baby Ian day, so stay tuned for updates and pictures!

One Last trip before Ian comes!
Last weekend we decided to take one last vacation before baby Ian arrives. We drove about and hour and a half south to the town of Monterey for some fun and relaxation. On Friday, we went to the aquarium so Emma could see the otters and penguins.
The otters were showing off a bit
Emma in a penguin egg
We found a great bar-b-que place for lunch. Dan thought this sign was pretty entertaining for some reason
It was pretty windy on Friday and our resort was built on Sand Dunes, so we did not spend a whole lot of time outside, but on Saturday we had breakfast in Carmel and then did a little walking/hiking in a park nearby.
Emma and Daddy go up for a better view
The rugged landscape

The park was full of Cypress Tree.
Emma wanted a picture of herself climbing on the rocks
A profile shot of Ian.. Dan thought we could hike him out...It didn't work
Around every corner was another beautiful view
The family of three.... soon to be four
On Sunday, we drove back home, stopping in Santa Cruz for some great pasta. Emma and I are hanging low today. She has a little cold... maybe from swimming in the "heated pool" at the resort in 60 degree weather??? She is hiding easter eggs in the backyard for me to find right now, so more updates later.

Spring Play
It is always interesting entertaining Emma in the hour or so before Daddy comes home. Yesterday, we spent some time in the backyard enjoying the sun and the fresh green grass. Emma decided to do some "acrobatics" on her slide...(I think she might be ready for a gymnastics class this summer since she climbs on and jumps off everything!)
Going down the slide...
Backwards...
Climbing up (who needs steps)
Going down upside down!
Then we played a little soccer
Running, Running, Running
Then we had a little fun rolling in the grass
Posing
Spotting an airplane (Emma is a little bit in airplane withdrawal!)
This is the smile we get when we ask her to smile.. not my favorite
Here is the real smile!
We had a great time until Daddy came home!

"Naptime"
Nap times at our house have been few and far between lately; but Emma is still required to go to her room for a little "rest time". Sometimes she goes to sleep and other times she plays. Yesterday, this is what I found when I went to check on her.
Emma had lined up some of her"friends" at the end of her back and given each of them a book to read to entertain themselves
Then she decided to join them.
We also have a new "baby" in the family. Emma has decided that one of her dolls is her "baby sister" Ian. Emma has fed baby Ian, put her in the swing to rock her to sleep, given her toys, and put her in the crib for night-night time. I keep reminding her that she is actually have a baby brother, but she thinks that her doll is a good substitute for now. She is practicing to be a great big sister. She has also told me that she will burp the baby, but she will not change dirty diapers... that is Mommy's job. What fun days we have to come!

All Aboard!
On Tuesday, we went on a great field trip with our preschool class. We took the train from our town to another town about 15 minutes away. While we were there, we went to a great bookstore for story time and then to a bakery next door from yummy cookies. It was a really fun morning. Emma loved the train and even though it was pouring down rain, she walked all the way to the bookstore and only mentioned a couple of times that she was "soaked".
Emma was excited to see her friends at the train station
No, she is not buying her ticket, she is checking the machine for extra "moneys" :)
Waiting for the train
Sitting with a friend
Checking out the scenery
Reading the paper: what else do you do on a commuter train?
Story time at the bookstore
Cookie time!
In other preschool news, we enrolled Emma in a 2 day a week program at a local church for next fall. We are excited about the programs they offer which include enrichment classes in the afternoon with topics like cooking, art, drama, and gymnastics. Emma is pretty independent and excited to do preschool on her own next year! She does a great job at making friends and is quite outgoing. Dan and I are not sure where she got her extrovert personality from, but we are happy she makes friends so easily and is so confident in new situations.
Emma also had her 3 year check-up this week. She is doing great and the doctor was happy that he hadn't seen since May; especially with her breathing/asthma issues. She is still on the small side; weighing in at a svelte 28 pounds (29th percentile) and standing at a height in 34 and half inches (3rd percentile). I think we can guess which side of our family she is taking after :) Let's hope baby boy gets more of the height genes in our family.
One more thing! Baby boy finally has a name! After a lot of thinking and discussing, we have chosen the name Ian Thomas for our new addition. We are trying to get Emma used to the name before he comes in a few weeks (6 weeks from today; Yeah!)
I guess that is all the news from here! We are participating in a consignment sale this weekend: selling around 200 of Emma's baby/toddler outfits to make room for boy clothes. Please pray that we do well and not much comes back to us!
