Emma's Pirate Adventure

We decided during our vacation to take Emma out for some special time of her own. What better adventure can a 5 year old dream of than to become a pirate for a day!

The morning started off a little rocky; Emma thought the costumes provided looked a little boyish. Luckily, we had a princess crown in the car and she agreed to having a mermaid painted on her arm (Because mermaids could be princesses, too)

Emma soon got into the adventure when they started learning pirate speak

Argh!!!

Next, the young pirates had to sneak to their boat

Emma was really good at sneaking

Arms out for balance

The captain greeted each pirate before coming aboard

Awaiting instruction

First, they had to find the map to the treasure

Showing how tough they are

Oh no, The evil Pirate Pete had stolen the keys to the treasure, they had to find the bad pirate and get the key

Shooting with the water cannons

Pete taunted the children

But, we prevailed and got the keys

Next, they had to find the treasure

X marked the spot

For the treasure!

The parents got to sit back and watch

While the pirates played limbo

Then took a nap

We had an excellent pirate adventure! If you are ever in the outer banks area, we highly recommend it!

Take a ride on the sea Gypsy!

Up, Up, and Away!

Ian really enjoyed the pool at the beach!

Up,

Up,

Up,

and away!

Outer Banks 2011

We had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying the beach with our friends, the Scotts. This is our third time renting a house in Duck, North Carolina. We love Duck. There is a small town feel with lots of small shops and restaurants within walking distance and the community we stayed in had lots of great amenities. The beach was still a little cold and windy, so we actually did not spend as much time there as we thought, but we made up for it in our backyard pool! The kids got along great (the girls even shared a room!) Overall, it was wonderful way to spend our vacation!

We started off our first day with a favorite treat; Duck Doughnuts!

This was Ian's first Duck Doughnut

Can we say jet lag???? Not even a doughnut could get a mile out

Ian had a great time getting to know Will

Emma practiced her skills in the pool

Ian practiced jumping

Emma and Sydney had a great time in the pool together

Fun in the hammocks

Silly faces

More silly faces. The house had 3 hammocks which were great fun!

Happy boy!

Dan and Billy (That is the instructor with Dan) got to have some fun too....

Hang gliding!

Smores by the pool

Daddy enjoyed them too

We even got to go out on a few date nights, thanks to our wonderful Mother's helper, Meg!

Emma learned to be a pirate (More of that in another post)

Movie time=quiet time

Our whole crew!
